For several hours, Destiny 2's servers are being maintained in the background in order to be ready for the impending, significant Lightfall release. It's natural that the Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion pack, which debuted a week ago, has brought up a number of technical and content concerns. Thanks to Bungie, the rollout went quite smoothly overall. Yet, many issues can only be resolved with more thorough remedies. Bungie is currently putting Destiny 2 in preparation for it. In the game, players can gather enough Destiny 2 Silver.
Many of Destiny 2's toughest problems can be fixed without giving players patches. These changes are handled by Bungie through Destiny 2's online servers. However, it's important to remember that Destiny 2 is a massive game. It is supported on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, and supports full cross-play and cross-save on all of these platforms. This meant that even server-side fixes required careful thought and a lot of studio effort.
That's why Bungie is letting players know about ongoing background server maintenance today (March 8th). The maintenance is scheduled to run until 2:00pm PT/5:00pm ET, so there are a few more hours left. This maintenance is described as only in preparation for the patch release tomorrow, March 9th.
What this means for Destiny 2 players. Since this is background-only server maintenance, and Bungie hasn't actually provided a fix yet, Destiny 2 players shouldn't notice any issues as long as everything goes according to plan. Bungie will be testing and preparing, Destiny 2 players currently in the game will know nothing. The reason Bungie is reminding Destiny 2 players is that things can go wrong, affecting servers in unpredictable ways. If Destiny 2 players experience server issues, it might be worth waiting until later this afternoon/evening to play.
On March 9th, Bungie will release Patch 7.0.0.3 for Destiny 2. Destiny 2 itself will shut down within the scheduled 15 minutes between 8:45AM PT / 11:45AM PT and 9AM PT / noon ET. Destiny 2 services, including Bungie.net, the Destiny 2 Companion app, third-party apps, and the Bungie Store will be shut down before and after the end of the Destiny 2 downtime. Players should probably refrain from playing the game during this window.
Hotfix 7.0.0.3's precise functioning is not totally known. Bungie will reveal what it fixed once the fix is available. It might fix bugs that stopped some Destiny 2 players from witnessing the cinematic at the end of Defiance: EDZ or the Jotunn Exotic Fusion Rifle, among other known and undiscovered technical problems. Looking forward to tomorrow's additional details. You can find more game guides at topgmnews.com.
